Safe navigation
Our management pursues crew supervision and safety assurance and maintenance programs through the Marine Management Group.
These departments always strive for safe and dependable operations through the activities described below, in line with the guiding principles gTransport Cargo Safelyh and gPractice Environmental Conservation.h

y1z Training of Marine Engineers

We purposefully recruit marine engineers and make every effort to train personnel at fleet operations sites to provide them with knowledge and experience. These fleet crew members will have the responsibility to form good relations between the company and its customers, acting as representatives of this Group.

y2z Training and Retention of International Crew

We have established a regional office in Manila for stationing special staff and we actively engage in training of Philippine national crew members before assignments and during leaves. In addition, our policy of successively contracting high performing crew members who have received company training results in higher skill levels for entire crews and boosts shipboard morale.

y3z Preventive Management

Our policy of gPreventive Managementh for our ship operation aims for early discovery of poor operating conditions and potential hazards. By preventing equipment failures before they occur, we expect both safe operations and cost savings over the long term.

Environment
Environmental protection policies that impact ship operations fall into two categories: measures for water pollution and measures for air pollution.
Mitsubishi Ore Transport respects International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution (MARPOL) on these issues and works to preserve the marine environment by properly collecting and treating all shipboard waste, by utilizing diesel engines that meet the latest emissions standards and by other measures.
In addition, we actively support The Agreement of Ballast Water Management (BWM) adopted by the International Marine Organization (IMO) in February 2004.
